We at Medical Billing WA believe in giving back. One way that we do that is through supporting Opportunity International Australia. Opportunity provides mothers in Asia with the tools they need to break the cycle of poverty. Like Lydia, who has three children and two years ago her husband died suddenly from a heart attack, while she slept beside him. He managed their small farm, selling vegetables in the market and buying and selling cattle. After his death, Lydia struggled to grow sufficient vegetables to earn enough to support the family. Her kids couldn't go to school because she wasn't able to pay the tuition fees and they often went hungry. It broke her heart. She had to figure out how she would take care of her kids without her husband.Lydia received a small loan of Rp. 3,000,000 (A$293), enabling her to buy stock for a kiosk. The kiosk gave her a regular income and supplemented what she earned from her farm. She now earns enough to buy nutritious food, send her children to school and save a small amount each week.
